San Pancrazio Parish Church

La Pieve is very old. It seems that it is mentioned in a document that some date back to Charlemagne, then existing to the nineteenth century AD But based only on the architectural remains it is not mistaken to say that the church, at least in the simplest forms, was present well before the thousand. Immagine72La crypt that was found in the basement under the presbytery is certainly pre-Romanesque building.
Unique example in Valdarno has raised presbytery, only San Miniato in Florence is designed in the same way.
