Rassina

The first residents of the area are the ancient Etruscans, whose presence is testified by the many monuments present in the area. It is established historically that in Etruscan language the word ” etruscan” was called Rassna or Rassena.
During the Second World War, which caused many victims among the civilian population, rassina became an important centre of refuge for the partisans and for the American soldiers in retreat from fighting on the hills of Casentino. In 1946, with the advent of the Republic, the economic development of the municipality resumed; in the years of the economic boom, rassina is at the center of large investments aimed at creating one of the most important industries for the extraction and processing of football in Europe. The cement factory, built in the 60’s/70’s, becomes the economic engine of the whole area, thus creating an increasingly flourishing economic activity.
