The presence of the Etruscans is documented right at the mouth of the valley that leads to Talla, from the great votive altar found behind the apse of Pieve a Socana, and is also attested by the discovery of underground tombs near the river of Pontenano di Sotto, in Bucacce (4th century BC burial ground, as noted by the archaeologist Gamurrini, in an account of 1888)
